THE YGDNA/ONA PICKET POST
Seventh day of negotiations between ONA/YGDNA and CHS/Valley Care/NMC took place August 16, 2012 in Warren, Ohio. Present for ONA/YGDNA were Cathleen Slater, JD, ONA Labor Relations Specialist, Eric Williams, YGDNA President, Cindy Cutrone, John Klimko, Sue Leskovec, Linda Warino and Jason Hovance, JD, ONA Labor Relations Specialist. Present for the Employer were Jim Carmody, CHS Corporate Representative, Bob Sincich, System Director of Labor Relations, Valley Care, Jan Ellis, CHS Corporate Human Resources, Terry Ronyak, HR TMH & HRH, and Bill Dolan, Pharmacy Manager, NMC.
CHS presented altered down-staffing language permitting the employer to down staff a RN up to 6 shifts per calendar month. CHS also included new language that requires ONA to renegotiate down-staffing language (the 6 shifts per calendar month) if down-staffing targets are not met. CHS still remains at its initial wage proposal.
ONA/YGDNA provided proposals to withdraw proposals related to guaranteed hours, certification pay, and clinical ladders monetary increases. ONA also proposed a mutual withdrawal of each party’s insurance related proposals. ONA responded to CHS’ down staffing proposal with a counter proposal for mandatory cross training of RNs for volume related staffing needs in lieu of any downstaffing language.
The parties do not have any dates scheduled to meet at this time.
